2025 vintage of award-winning Nocino, Okanagan walnuts aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels!
The successor to our CASK award-winning vintage comes this year's Barrel-aged Nocino- 2025 vintage. The beautiful thing about vintages is that they tell a story, making every one unique. The wildfires and frosts in the Okanagan made harvesting extremely difficult over the past few years, and so we decided to reserve some cask stock from previous harvests. That is part of the story in this vintage. In doing so, we have created the best Nocino yet- aged for 3 years in bourbon barrels- Nocino 2025 has a complexity and character that only time in a cask can create. This additional cask maturation has changed everything. The bright aromatic spice our Nocino is known for has evolved tremendously, creating an extremely rich complement of flavours from toasted cacao and caramelized brown sugar to gingersnaps and fruit cake. What was a delicious bomb of fragrant, rich walnut liqueur has built character and depth. Nutty Nicaraguan coffee, black cherries and fresh orange zest spill out of this spirit, followed by an incredibly soft and rounded finish.
The changing climate continues to reshape agriculture in British Columbia, with winter 2024 bringing devastating frosts and the loss of stone fruit across the Okanagan. For The Woods Spirit Co., these challenges mark the end of a cherished ritual: harvesting green walnuts in Summerland during the summer solstice. After two years without fruiting trees, the distillery announces that the upcoming Vintage 2025 Nocino will be its final release. Available October 1st, 2025.
